The Festival of Life!

I can't believe this week has come and went. It was such a whirlwind and such a great week. God was in such control and blessed us with the perfect team, great help for our projects, and safety. We each grew so much in our relationships with each other and our relationships with God. If we were able to somehow bless the people of St Kitts with what we did, then even better! 

Part of our ministry this week was providing childcare for the kids on the mission trip/the missionary kids





We played at the pool, did art and played with the ipad as well :)

The other part of our ministry was picking up trash, installing new basketball nets, building backboards and installing them at a park in a poor community and at a school for kids with special needs. 


Our drivers/helpers Andy and Alicia, both VIP's to vet students on the island. Andy and his wife, Jillian, are the reason we became connected with St Kitts!


We hired two Kittitian men to haul our stuff to a court in Cayon and they help with the installations.

 Now the kids have swing sets, teeter-totters and a basketball goal!

In addition to our projects we had devotions every morning, group dinners at night, and the ladies got to go to a women's conference at Olivet Gospel Hall and we got to hear Sandy Macintosh speak to us and pray over us. It was a powerful evening!












A group of girls in the neighborhood who all come to church with one elderly women who has been trying to teach them the things she "wished she had known"at their ages. It made me miss my students at home!

Finally Saturday was the big event, the Festival of Life!
We had FREE food, inflatables, face painting, tiny car races, basketball games, and awesome music followed by Mike Macintosh sharing the gospel from the stage. I loved what I kept hearing Brandon Grayson say "Everything tonight is free because Jesus is free, and He freely died for us to save us."

















I was running around, but I did see that when they gave the offer of free bibles a crowd rushed the stage! I'm so excited to hear about how God uses this last week to draw the Kittitians to Him and how they are able to get plugged in with the local churches who helped host the festival. 

We had a LONG trip home, and after 4 hours of delays we landed in Knoxville at 2:30am this morning (Monday). We are tired, but we are so full! We are very excited to say that God has finally revealed to us the "what"of our ministry when we get to St Kitts full time. We (mostly Aaron, as I will get to be mommy and teacher to the kids) will be starting a ministry to help people who have addictions to drugs or alcohol as well as an outreach to the gang members on the island. Our dream is to eventually have a residential facility on Nevis where we can remove the recovering individuals from the sources that are enabling them while helping them to heal and to learn to rely on God who has OVERCOME their addictions and who has set them free. The last part of the vision God has given us is that we will want to bring Kittitians alongside us and to train them so that if or when we were to leave then the ministry and center would still be sustainable. We are so excited, humbled and somewhat overwhelmed  by all that God is calling our family to. As always, we would really appreciate your prayers, specifically for the following things:

  1. That we make wise financial decisions that accelerate our ability to get out of debt and for provisions financially to do that.
  2. That we are able to make some major decisions about whether to move down through a group or independently, and how to find a group with the same type of vision that we have if that is the direction God wants us to go in.
  3. For opportunities for training in the area of our calling, and wisdom and confirmation to take those opportunities. Getting into more debt (school loans, ect) is not an option we are willing to take, plus practical experience is so much more valuable. 
  4. For our children as they know that we will be leaving home in a couple years, for peace and comfort, and for excitement about what God has called our family to.

Y'all, it has been SIX months since I last wrote a blog post. I can't believe it has been so long. April Showers (Or the Beginning of Dry Season)

Recently I started reading through Revelation. It's the last book in my journey to read through the entire Bible. It MAY have taken a little more than a year lol. I'm not gonna lie, there were some books I was not excited to dive into (Leviticus? Numbers? Habakuk???). However, God has used each book in His precious word to speak to me in whatever season I have been walking through. I expected to learn a lot about Revelation, but not necessarily from Revelation. I had always viewed it as a way to understand what's coming, but maybe not what I'm dealing with now. But praise God for His LIVING word! It never fails to meet me where I am and speak life over me.  April was not much different than March. Phone calls, reaching out, being told "next week", "next month", waiting, waiting, waiting. We have FINALLY arrived!

We're here.  We are here. We are really for real here!  We are really, truly, amazingly, actually here! I have to keep reminding myself of this daily, hourly, sometimes minute to minute. One week in, and it still doesn't always feel real.  At our missions training in August we talked about the paradox that missionaries live with. How it's possible to feel two ways at once, think two ways at once, eventually to belong to two places at once. This had been the month of paradox. We spent November saying goodbye and soaking up as much East Tennessee love and memories as possible. We started the month by finding out that we will be getting a NIECE this march!!! Congratulations Adam and Katie and Eli!!! We are so excited for that precious girl to arrive! We also had early Christmas with my (Katelyn's) family so that we could celebrate all together.
