April Showers (Or the Beginning of Dry Season)

Recently I started reading through Revelation. It's the last book in my journey to read through the entire Bible. It MAY have taken a little more than a year lol. I'm not gonna lie, there were some books I was not excited to dive into (Leviticus? Numbers? Habakuk???). However, God has used each book in His precious word to speak to me in whatever season I have been walking through. I expected to learn a lot about Revelation, but not necessarily from Revelation. I had always viewed it as a way to understand what's coming, but maybe not what I'm dealing with now. But praise God for His LIVING word! It never fails to meet me where I am and speak life over me.  April was not much different than March. Phone calls, reaching out, being told "next week", "next month", waiting, waiting, waiting. We have FINALLY arrived!

We're here.  We are here. We are really for real here!  We are really, truly, amazingly, actually here! I have to keep reminding myself of this daily, hourly, sometimes minute to minute. One week in, and it still doesn't always feel real.  At our missions training in August we talked about the paradox that missionaries live with. How it's possible to feel two ways at once, think two ways at once, eventually to belong to two places at once. This had been the month of paradox. We spent November saying goodbye and soaking up as much East Tennessee love and memories as possible. We started the month by finding out that we will be getting a NIECE this march!!! Congratulations Adam and Katie and Eli!!! We are so excited for that precious girl to arrive! We also had early Christmas with my (Katelyn's) family so that we could celebrate all together. Coming Up For Air - A New Year's Letter From Us to You

  If any year felt like treading water, it was 2020. I don't have to explain that to any of you. You can relate to many of the exact same things we have gone through: missing family, canceled plans, indefinitely delayed trips, unknown future, worry, stress, and still trying to maintain a stable life for our family. Throw the normal end-of-the-year rush on top of that, and the title of this post probably makes a lot of sense to you. Turtles can survive a fair amount of time under water. God made them that way, and He sustains us through these "underwater" seasons as well. Much of the last year felt a bit like drowning. Jesus has been there the whole time reminding us who holds us when the waves are crashing in.  A big difference in our experience of the last few months from yours is that we live on an island that has stayed relatively covid-free.
